Homework

Braden does about 20-40 minutes of homework every night which includes math, spelling and reading. These are typical images of Braden doing homework. He always sits in the same chair and occasionally works in the buff.

Looking Worse, But Feeling Better!

Tonight my ankle looks worse than it has, but it also feels better than it has to this point. I can now walk around on my foot without the use of my crutches. It seems amazing to me, when not more than 24 hours ago I could barely stand the pain without being doped up. To me, it seems an answer to prayer and the power of the priesthood (Gary and Blake gave me a blessing a couple of days ago.) And, thank you to all of you who have been praying for me! I am still hoping that it continues to get better and that there is nothing seriuos to this injury. I'm wondering if I would be walking if there were ligament tears. Anyone have any insight on that? Heather?

Swelling/Color Worsens

This is what my foot looked like this morning. When I woke up today I could put a little bit of pressure on my foot and even walk a little bit.

Our Latest E.R. Visit

Who would have thought it would be me? Funny thing, in the January ward newsletter we were asked what our family new year's resolution was. We told them "no more ER visits in 2008." That just printed and went out at the first of the month. Guess it's alot tougher to keep those resolutions than one might think. So, here's the story behind the accident. I was walking up the back walkway of our house and was holding a cell phone in one hand (yes talking of course) and a Wendy's bag in the other. Lucky for me it had just snowed a slight skiff an hour before, covering up all the ice. So, down I went, being unable to stop the fall with my entire weight buckling under me on my left leg. Instantly I knew I had broke it. Not the case, ER x-rays showed no brake. However, there still is a chance that I pulled some ligaments, not cool. I cannot put any weight whatsoever on my foot, so I am hobbling around on crutches. As you can see I have a "cankle" (calf-ankle) on my left leg. Also the bruising and swelling is quite bad. I won't know for a while if it is more serious than a sprain, and I'm just hoping and praying there are no tears.

Rock Climbing

Today we woke up and determined that we were going to do something fun as a family. After narrowing our choices down to a movie mattine, rock climbing, boondocks, or bowling, we decided to go rock climbing. This was Braden's first experience in a climbing gym although we all know how good of a climber he is. He was a bit nervous at first and after several practice climbs and a little coaxing with the prize of a new transformer toy on the line, he made it to the top. This is no small feat for a little 5 year old. The top must have been a 40-50 foot climb. Dad tried it afterwards and left him tired and sore in the arms. Kelton also got a few small climbs in, and even Amy who at first was a bit concerned given her state gave it a go and made it to the top.
